Bradley Raider teaches Vedic Meditation courses through MDT8 in Brentwood on the Westside of Los Angeles. The technique is learned over four in-person sessions designed to make students completely self-sufficient in the practice. Courses are also taught in New York City and Philadelphia, with private instruction available worldwide.
How long does it take to learn Vedic Meditation?
Vedic Meditation is traditionally learned over four 90-minute sessions taught over four consecutive days. After completing the course, students can expect to be fully self-sufficient in the practice.
What are the benefits of practicing Vedic Meditation?
Reported benefits of Vedic Meditation include: Reduction of and increased resistance to stress and anxiety, strengthening of the immune system, increased energy levels, improved memory / concentration and decision-making, reversal of certain processes of biological aging, reduction of addictive behaviors, reduction of cholesterol / blood pressure and the risk of heart disease (number one killer in the US), normalization of sleeping patterns, and a more mindful, expanded awareness in daily life.
What makes Vedic Meditation different from mindfulness?
While it’s true to say that mindfulness training is a form of meditation, not all traditions of meditation are considered mindfulness — especially as mindfulness is both a practice and ultimately, a way of being in the world.
Even though Vedic Meditation is not mindfulness, one of the benefits of practicing Vedic Meditation is an increasingly more equanimous and mindful eyes-open state (where mindfulness really counts).
Vedic Meditation + mindfulness (an eyes closed resting technique + an eyes open way of being in the world) becomes a potent combination.
Can children learn Vedic Meditation?
Children can learn Vedic Meditation through age-appropriate instruction designed to make the practice simple, natural, and sustainable. Kids courses are offered selectively, and families may also learn together through a Private Course for up to five people.
